Course Overview

BE Marine Engineering is a 4-year undergraduate program designed for students who aspire to build a career in the Merchant Navy as Marine Engineers. The course focuses on the operation, maintenance, and management of ship machinery, engines, and technical systems.

The program combines classroom learning with practical workshop training and onboard exposure, preparing students to work as Engine Cadets / Junior Engineers on ships worldwide.

After completion and required sea time, candidates can appear for MEO (Marine Engineer Officer) exams under DG Shipping guidelines.

⚓ Eligibility Criteria

Academic Qualification

• ✔ 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCM)
• ✔ Minimum 60% aggregate in PCM
• ✔ Minimum 50% marks in English (10th or 12th)

Note: 5% relaxation for SC/ST candidates in PCM (not applicable for English).

Age Limit

• ✔ Male: General - 25 yrs | OBC - 28 yrs | SC/ST - 30 yrs
• ✔ Female: General - 27 yrs | OBC - 30 yrs | SC/ST - 32 yrs

Medical Fitness

• ✔ Medically fit as per DG Shipping standards
• ✔ Normal color vision (no color blindness)
• ✔ Good eyesight as per maritime norms

⚓ Lateral Entry (2nd Year Admission)

• ✔ 3-year Diploma in Mechanical / Marine / Electrical (min 55%)
• ✔ 4-year Diploma in Shipbuilding Engineering (min 55%)
• ✔ 1 year Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) with 60%

Accepted Streams:

• ✔ Mechanical: Automobile, Production, Tool & Die, etc.
• ✔ Electrical: Power Systems
• ✔ Electronics: Communication, Instrumentation, etc.

Candidates must also have minimum 50% in English.
